In order to effectively treat wrinkles that you have on your face, you need to identify the kind of wrinkles that you have. You can’t just assume that BOTOX® will work on all types of wrinkles. This may be a new thought for many people. Some people think that all wrinkles are exactly the same. However, this is not true. There are two basic types of wrinkles that a person will experience as they get older. They are dynamic wrinkles and static wrinkles. When you know the kind of wrinkles that you are struggling with, you will be able to find the most effective solution to the problem.
So, how do you know the difference between static and dynamic wrinkles? Of course, we can help you identify the type of wrinkles that you are experiencing when you come into our office for your first consultation. However, to start with, just take a couple of minutes and look in the mirror. When you make absolutely no facial expressions, what does your skin look like? If you notice that there are areas where there are some wrinkles and sagging skin, you likely have static wrinkles. They usually form because of the loss of facial volume and because of the way the skin changes as you get older.
Now make some facial expressions. Smile, frown, and laugh. Do you notice that there are other wrinkles that form because of the way the muscles change as you make different expressions? Do you notice that these lines stay in place even when your face goes back to being expressionless? If so, you probably have dynamic wrinkles.
If you are dealing with dynamic wrinkles, BOTOX® is going to be one of the best treatment options available for you. This treatment is awesome because it actually causes the muscles that are causing wrinkles to form on your skin to relax. Since the muscles are able to relax, the skin also relaxes. Deep lines in your face that are caused by muscle movements are able to smooth out.
